At the end of June, all the project partners met in Nantes (France) for the Annual General Meeting. To make the most of the trip, some of them also attended the WESC event. Let’s take a look back at the two highlights of June…
A general meeting to review progress on the project
For two days, our team met at Ecole Centrale de Nantes to review the project’s progress.
The first day was dedicated to the Review Meeting with our project officer from CINEA. Each WP leader was able to present the achievements of his WP, the progress made and the risks associated with his work. To keep abreast of FLOATFARM’s technical progress, you can follow our News section and the list of Deliverables.
The consortium took advantage of a break to visit the towing tanks at Ecole Centrale de Nantes. This equipment represents a real asset for the project, as it is the second largest in France, largest in an academic environment 140 m long – 5 m wide – 3 m deep.

FLOATFARM partners at the WESC2025
The Wind Energy Science Conference (WESC) is a biennial conference taking place every odd year. The purpose of the conference is to gather leading scientists and researchers in the field of wind energy to present their latest findings in oral presentations and several parallel sessions, covering all scientific topics in the area of wind energy.
Several of our partners have co-hosted 3 mini-symposia:
- Robert Behrens de Luna (from TUB) co-hosted MS#08.2 on: Floating Wind Turbine Design Optimization Methods.
- Francesco Papi (from UNiFI) co-hosted MS#08.3 on: Motion effects on aerodynamics and wake of a single floating offshore wind turbine.
- Alessandor Bianchini (from UNiFI) co-hosted MS#08.4 on: Wake interactions in floating wind farms.
Other partners were also present, including members of DTU and the coordinator of FLOATFARM, Joseph Saverin, who also gave a presentation on Fast Wake Simulations using Vortex Methods on the GPU.
