On Friday, 24 October, the FLOATFARM project hosted the Women4Wind webinar, an inspiring session dedicated to highlighting the women driving change in the wind energy sector and exploring actionable steps to create a more inclusive industry. The event offered both practical insights and inspiring success stories. We are delighted to share the highlights of this webinar with you!
Keynote and FLOATFARM Presentation
The keynote was delivered by Virginie Robin, Founder & President of Euronovia, who shared her expertise in EU research and innovation funding and emphasized the transformative power of gender-inclusive policies.
Following the keynote, Joseph Saverin from TUB, FLOATFARM Project Coordinator, presented the project’s objectives and research focus, highlighting advances in fast numerical modelling for wind turbine wake dynamics and platform hydrodynamics.

Stories from Women Leaders in Wind Energy
The webinar then featured inspiring stories from leading women in the sector:
- Liselotte Ulvgård (CEO & CTO, Hagnesia Wind AB) shared innovations in low-speed generators that reduce raw material use and increase turbine efficiency.
- Cristina Madrid López (Ramón y Cajal Researcher, CIEMAT) highlighted socio-environmental analyses and her leadership across Horizon Europe projects.
- Beatriz Mendez Lopez (Senior Researcher, CENER) presented her work in wind turbine aerodynamics, CFD, and major EU projects.
Panel Discussion
The panel discussion focused on a central question: “How can we ensure the gender dimension is meaningfully integrated into EU collaborations?”
Panelists from FLOATFARM sister projects contributed valuable perspectives:
- Christian Windt (INF4INiTY) discussed turning gender policies into actionable change.
- Dr. Balram Panjwani (MADE4WIND) shared concrete examples from multiple Horizon Europe projects.
- Irene Brenes (TAILWIND) offered insights from IP strategy, technology transfer, and fostering women’s participation across academia, SMEs, and corporates.
