Discover the ‘Raindrop’ toolbox designed by blueOASIS

Our partner blueOASIS, leader of the task ‘Marine acoustic noise models’ from WP5 ‘Environmental and Sociological Impacts’ worked on the RAINDROP code (ReAl-tIme uNDeRwater acOustic maPs), a toolbox tailored to elevate our suite of marine services through enhanced underwater acoustic mapping capabilities.

It is now ready to model the combined broadband propagated noise from shipping and wind offshore parks aero, structural and hydrodynamic noise. It can also consider wind park power variation and model the complete 3D soundscape in real-time. See here an application example for Cascais-Ericeira-Peniche area: names of the ships and noise levels were made confidential; the park has 160 turbines of 5MW each; an hypothetical wind distribution was used.

Other locations in France, Italy and Azores have also been modelled. Further developments, Verification and Validation are being accomplished within the FLOATFARM project.
